The Tune Up: Santa Cruz & Mares Saturday PBC Doubleheader

In tomorrow night’s second Premier Boxing Champions double-header card, both Leo Santa Cruz and Abner Mares enter the ring at the StubHub Center, in Carson, California. However, they won’t be facing each other as originally anticipated. Instead, they’ll both be facing other lesser known opponents, in what is ostensibly a tune-up fight for both of them, before they square off in  early in 2018.

“It’s a big drama show. I want to thank all my fans, I want to thank all my Kazakhstan fans for supporting me, for coming out. Of course I want a rematch, this was a real fight. Look I still have all the belts, I’m still the champion.”

Gennady Golovkin

“I thought I won the fight. I was superior inside the ring. I won at least 7…8 of the rounds. I was able to counterpunch and even make Gennady Golovkin wobble a couple of times. It’s up to the people if we fight again, I feel frustrated over this draw." Canelo Alvarez
“I’m focused first on my fight, but it is going to be an excellent night of boxing. I’m definitely excited about regaining that belt. I’d like to think that I’m defined not by the belt, but because of all the things I’ve done in my life.” Román "Chocolatito" González

If you want to watch a comedy show or a business show, then please watch Mayweather and McGregor. Everybody understands that my fight with Canelo is a true fight. It is a boxing fight and is about respect and sport."

Gennady "GGG" Golovkin

“It was the timing. I’ve always said I have very good timing. It is underestimated when you are outside the ring, but once you get inside the ring with me, I’m a step ahead.”
