Mikey Garcia (39-0, 30KOs) continues to grind at the SNAC training center ahead of his showdown with welterweight champion, Errol Spence Jr. (24-0, 21KOs). Mikey Garcia is moving up from 135 pounds to 147 pounds in hopes of winning a world title in a fifth weight division. Here’s an inside look at Mikey Garcia’s intense workout regiment ahead of his March 16 fight courtesy of Ring TV.
Mikey Garcia is daring to be great. He’s already considered a pound for pound great and one of the elite fighters in today’s era. Errol Spence is a big welterweight and the assumption is that as the fight wears on, Spence’s natural weight advantage will start to overwhelm Garcia. But Garcia seems to be getting in great shape under the SNAC program.
It’ll be interesting to see how Garcia looks come fight night. He’s clearly working on power, but speed is also another great factor heading into the fight. He’s not known to have the fastest hands in boxing, but focusing on speed could help him get an upper hand against Spence. Spence is a powerful fighter and he’s able to cut the ring and overwhelm his opponents he’s got them in a corner. Garcia can offset that by using his speed and footwork to keep Spence guessing.
Errol Spence Jr. vs. Mikey Garcia takes place on March 16, 2019 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. It’ll be broadcast LIVE on FOX PPV.
