On Tuesday, 6/20 Canelo and GGG took to the stage at the Theatre at Madison Square Garden for the first stop of their US pre-fight press tour. Both fighters, flanked by their trainers, promoters and in front of a raucous crowd, exuded extreme confidence in their boxing abilities, despite the hard-hitting Kazakh Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (37-0, 33 knockouts) being widely seen as the favorite against Alvarez, who is 49-1-1 with 34 knockouts.
Here are a few images and videos from Canelo’s entrance into MSG and the start of the press conference.
The next stop on the press tour is tonight in Los Angeles at the AVALON in Hollywood, 1735 Vine St., Los Angeles, CA.
Canelo vs. Golovkin is a 12-round fight for the middleweight championship of the world presented by Golden Boy Promotions and GGG Promotions and sponsored by Tecate, BORN BOLD, Hennessy, Never Stop, Never Settle and O’Reilly Auto Parts. The fight will take place on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View®.
